Making Room For Sophisticated Relaxation

All master bathrooms deserve a bit of luxury, and this particular master spa sheds a new light on what it means to be simultaneously graceful, stylish and relaxing. Formerly a three-bedroom, one bathroom ranch home in old Leawood, the former house was torn down to make room for a 5,000 square foot beauty.

As part of the new floor plan, this master bathroom took on a new role. Instead of simply being utilitarian and used only when necessary, it became a decided focal point of the master suite. Designed by Debra Hudacek of DP Hudacek, this comfortable yet refined spa-like setting presents with a neutral color palette that offers the perfect setting for the added texture provided by the dolomite custom (and heated!) floor tiles.

Through its elegant simplicity, this bathroom still offers myriad features to delight the senses. The three touch panel mirrors open for additional storage, resting above the attractive quartzite countertop that provides the perfect touch of movement to the space. The floating vanity with multiple drawers and cabinets adds to the clean and sophisticated appeal of the room.

The lavish soaker tub, artfully framed by a large window and wainscoted walls of porcelain tile, create a welcoming and refined visual to the room.

While recessed cans have been appropriately placed to provide ample lighting, the true star of the show is the chandelier above, which easily complements the existing light fixtures and the natural light flowing through the window.

“This piece acts as a visual comfort feature,” Hudacek noted.

The accompanying shower, outfitted in quartzite, includes a bench seat and a shelf. Dual shower heads, one a hand-held fixture on a glide bar, offer a welcoming respite with varying pressure settings at the end of a long day.
