According to an old Irish proverb, “Laughter is brightest where food is best.” With that thought in mind, perhaps it is time to put a smile upon your face with a visit to a welcoming Irish pub in the heart of Kansas City that will tempt you with both sweet and savory fare while simultaneously offering a hearty portion of Irish charm and tradition. Welcome to Brady’s Public House, your new favorite source of great food, beer, cocktails, and above all, friends. Owned by Ray Dunlea along with Executive Chef and Ireland native Shaun Brady, this family-friendly neighborhood establishment blends traditional Irish fare with some favorite American food.

“We have a small, open kitchen and prepare everything from scratch, using as many local sources as we can,” noted Brady. Among the local sources upon which he relies include Powell Gardens, The Roasterie, Farm to Market Bread Company and several local farms.

With something for nearly every appetite, Brady’s offers a variety of hearty dishes along with some lighter fare, too. From lush, green salads to satisfying seafood dishes, guests are sure to leave Brady’s Public House satisfied yet eager to return to try something else next time.

Among the restaurant’s most popular dishes are the fried chicken, dressed in a 24-hour buttermilk soak, lemon pepper butter and maple brine; mussels and fries, served with a Guinness and mushroom sauce; traditional fish and chips; Scotch eggs; crab cakes; an Irish whiskey cured salmon BLT; blackened salmon salad; and five types of pies, including a traditional cottage pie.

If you still have room for dessert, tempt your palate with a slice of mouth-watering made-from-scratch cheesecake.

“We change the flavor of our cheesecake every week and so far, have not repeated any flavor,” stated Brady, who gives a hearty tip of the hat to Sous Chef, Graham Farris, who creates 99% of the full menu of desserts from scratch.

For a flavorful libation, Brady’s is known for its selection of beer and cocktails, as well as its enviable line up of Irish whiskey.

“I believe we have the largest Irish whiskey selection in the city and probably even in the Midwest,” emphasized Brady, referring to the pub’s collection of 65+ bottles of Irish whiskey, which is in continual rotation and changes weekly.

Brady’s Public House appreciates its guests and goes out of its way to ensure everyone has a great time.

“We have so many options made with fresh ingredients at affordable prices,” said Brady. “And even if you have a diet restriction, just let us know and we will accommodate you with a special dish using the ingredients we have in-house.”
