Once Kansas City gets that first real bite of fall, my wardrobe habits shift fast. Bring on all the tall boots and leather jackets that have been hiding in the back of the closet! This outfit showcases one way to wear these pieces before the weather gets really chilly.
I started with a chocolate brown minidress. The high neck balances the short hemline, and the ruching adds a flattering detail. Over the top… a cropped, slightly oversized brown leather jacket. The coolest versions now are slightly boxy and a little distressed, like this one.
There’s something very chic about a tonal brown look; it reads polished without trying too hard. The jacket adds edge and volume on top so the proportions feel modern, not fussy.
Final touch? A pair of slouchy snakeskin boots. Snakeskin is a standout trend this season, and here it serves texture and personality without overpowering the silhouette. If a strong cold front moves in, a pair of tights keeps you warm while keeping the look streamlined.
Just three pieces make up this outfit, and I’m out the door. It’s a look that feels current but is based on elements you can remix all autumn long – a recipe for style success!
