CHERRY RED

Do you smell that crisp fall air, Kansas City? Autumn is here! I’m to share a look featuring a huge color trend for the season so you can stay current on what to wear right now, and that’s anything cherry red.

We usually think of a jewel-toned red like this for holiday outfitting, which will still be part of any festive 2024 look, but cherry red got some fun play on the fall runways. This hue was everywhere, from coats to sweaters, boots to bags! I love it because it means you can make it work easily as part of your personal style.

I’m interpreting it here in the form of a cherry red blazer. Fun fashion fact: this blazer is actually a dress, but when you wear it open, it presents as a chic longline jacket. I wore it over a black ribbed turtleneck (a timeless fall staple!) and a pair of classic-wash straight-leg jeans.

Here’s another trend to try: tuck your straight-legged denim into a pair of boots. I know – this goes against everything we’ve been sartorially conditioned to do for decades: only skinny jeans with boots! And believe me, you can absolutely still do that. But this newer variation has some edge that feels fresh.

To execute this vibe, first pick a snug pair of straight legs. Anything too oversized or slouchy will look sloppy (and also be hard to tuck in). Then, choose a tall boot with a wider shaft, giving you the room needed to get all that denim in place. The result? A cool-girl vibe for a cool new season.

Lastly, I layered a bunch of hefty gold necklaces over the turtleneck. It added some luxury to the look and also celebrated the fact it’s finally cool enough for heavier jewelry!

Back to our cherry red trend, you have so many options if you want to recreate this in your closet. If a blazer isn’t your vibe, try a red ankle boot with any basic fall look. You could also work in a cozy red sweater or a rich red satin blouse. All of these work! Want to stay in the accessory lane?
