In this 1990s traditional Overland Park home, a remarkable primary bathroom renovation took place, overseen by interior designer Angela Amone-Orel with Renovations by Starr Homes, who masterfully transformed the space fusing classic elegance with contemporary comfort.

Retaining the traditional essence of the home, Amone-Orel reconfigured the space into an expansive room with subtle hues of whites and greys further accentuated with whispers of taupe that stand in harmony with the classic porcelain tile features and slate grey accent walls.

Central to this remodeling endeavor was the creation of a seamless and visually connected space achieved by removing a restrictive wall capturing space from the underused sitting room. This paved the way for a spacious, serene spa-like haven punctuated with brushed nickel plumbing fixtures and quartz countertops that evoke a timeless appeal.

The free-standing tub is nestled between the vanities creating the focal point as you enter the room. This is a wonderful place to soak in the natural light streaming from a strategically placed window above and further elevated by classic wainscoting that graces not just the bathing area but extends to the vanity wall and toilet room.

“This look is a bit unexpected, but it is a classic look that you don’t always see in a bathroom,” noted Amone-Orel.

The porcelain-tiled, oversized shower is another head-turning feature in this bathroom. It is both beautiful and functional with the addition of dual shower heads and a perfectly placed niche carved out for bathing essentials.

Adorning the walls by the tub are classic wall sconces, enhancing the appeal of the room with a gentle glow. A sophisticated chandelier reigns overhead, lending an attitude of elegance to the setting. Further, a linen tower, situated conveniently by the vanities, provides abundant storage space.

The original ceiling was excessively tall. Arnone-Orel opted for a box vault to create symmetry around the room and added crown moulding in keeping with the overall classic design elements. She successfully orchestrated this primary bath renovation by marrying modern functionality with traditional charm.

“I loved seeing this come to life,” reflected Amone-Orel.
