Happy Holidays, Kansas City! Before we know it, we’ll be trimming trees and filling our calendars with holiday events. What to wear, what to wear? I’ve got an idea or two!
There’s a lot going on in this festive look: tough leather, mixing prints, and combining textures. I started with a red and yellow sweater – go Chiefs! – with tiny ribbons of silver tinsel woven into the grid print. A perfect piece for both the playoffs and Christmas Eve!
I layered the sweater on top of faux leather shorts. Oversized? Check. High, paper bag waist? Check. These elements allow the shorts to function the same as any skirt, just with a bit of an unexpected twist. Want to cinch that waist? Add a belt.
Another fun and festive punch? A pair of chevron-patterned fishnet tights. The chevron plays against the sweater’s grid print while an extra layer on the leg anchors the shorts for colder weather. Even though they’re basic black, these tights are anything but basic. They take this look to the next level!
Final touch? A heeled patent loafer with a gold horse bit feature. I love a multitasking shoe like this; it adds height while being right on trend and has a chunky heel to keep you stable when navigating snowy sidewalks.
Let the holiday style planning commence!
