For Design & Detail in Lenexa, Kansas, the past year has been about listening, learning, and looking closely at how they serve the design community. Under the leadership of Owner, Melinda Klinghammer, and Beth McCabe, Showroom Manager, the destination showroom for elevated interiors has refined its approach to client service while expanding its product offerings with fresh finds from markets around the globe.

“Our number one goal is unmatched service, making every client feel heard, guided, and confident from start to finish,” McCabe emphasized.

What sets Design & Detail apart is its ability to deliver a boutique experience backed by major design resources, expert support, and carefully curated products. Over the past year, the team has streamlined communication processes and focused highly on thoughtful follow-through, ensuring that every designer who walks through their doors receives the white-glove treatment their projects demand.

The showroom’s commitment to service is matched by its dedication to staying ahead of design trends. Klinghammer’s team of buyers recently returned from Déco Off, the renowned fabric market in Paris, where they sourced trend-forward textiles and absorbed the latest in global design direction. It’s one of several strategic market trips the team makes annually, including High Point Furniture Market and Surfaces Las Vegas, all with the goal of bringing “International” innovations directly to the Kansas City design community.

“We’re not just following trends; we’re curating the newest, coolest, and most unique options available,” Klinghammer explained.

This forward-thinking approach means Design & Detail’s designer clients have access to emerging brands, distinctive  materials, and standout pieces that push creative boundaries while maintaining the quality and functionality their clients expect.

Recent upgrades to the Carpet and Area Rug Department exemplify this commitment to offering more. The department now features an expanded selection of carpet styles and fibers, along with additional custom options for size, binding, and finishing. Fresh, fashion-forward rug styles span the design spectrum from classic to modern, ensuring designers can find the perfect foundation for any project aesthetic.

Adding to the department’s value is the expertise of Janice Heins, Design & Detail’s in-house flooring specialist. Having a true expert to guide material selection, assess durability for different lifestyles, and provide installation confidence gives designers and their clients peace of mind throughout the selection process.

FRESH VIEW

When your clients expect the latest in design innovation, Design & Detail delivers. Their commitment to sourcing trend-forward products from Paris, High Point, and beyond means you’ll always have access to distinctive pieces and materials that set your projects apart, all backed by expert support that makes you look good and keeps your projects on track.

For Design & Detail, being a Kansas City destination means more than offering beautiful products. It’s about creating an environment where designers feel supported, where communication is clear and consistent, and where genuine care guides every interaction. The showroom’s dual focus on exceptional service and always sourcing what’s next, positions it as both a trusted partner and a leader for the region’s design community.

As the Kansas City team continues to grow and evolve, their commitment remains unchanged: to provide designers with the resources, expertise, and inspiration they need to create elevated interiors that exceed expectations.
