Going Green For Spring

Spring is here! I don’t know about you, Kansas City, but I’m more than ready for warm afternoons and the trees exploding in green after hibernating all winter long. Time to roll over that closet! But while we’re all chomping at the bit to break out those warm-weather clothes, Midwest weather doesn’t always play nice in March and April. Your outfits should feel like spring but be warm enough to withstand a cold snap. What to wear?

This bright green dress with its dainty daisy print celebrates the season while also working in some trends you’ll be seeing for months to come. The mini pleats and 90s vibe are both big right now, as are square necklines and puffy sleeves. (Snag anything you spot with a puffy statement sleeve! Huge trend for spring.) A longer length means some coverage (read: warmth), but the fabric is breezy enough to wear this number well into summer.

This outfit includes quite a few spring 2020 trends. The most functional? This tan suede jacket. Not only does it warm things up, but you’ll be seeing all kinds of light-colored leathers and suedes as part of on-trend spring outfits. Ditch the black motorcycle jackets in favor of something pastel or in the light neutral family.

Spot those big silver hoops? Hoop earrings are taking ears by storm this spring. Whether you like them in silver or gold, big or small, slip a pair on and be right in step with all the accessories that marched down the spring runways.

Lastly, a pair of white booties are a perfect addition to your March and April closet. Don’t pay any mind to that old adage of waiting until Easter to wear white – wear it right now! To stay in the boho lane, look for something with a stacked wooden heel. (Anything stiletto is going to play more on the dressy side.) This bootie adds some attitude to the dress and keeps it springtime-fresh.

Want to remix what you see here? Wear the dress alone with a leather sandal in June to a summer wedding, or take the tan jacket and slip it on over a classic white t-shirt for instant polish. These booties will be just as cute with short summer dresses as they are here, but keep in mind they add some punch to any of your jean-based outfits.

Happy Spring KC!
