84 Lumber is more than a place to purchase materials. In Kansas City, it operates as a coordinated building partner from pricing through production.

Founded in Eighty Four, Pennsylvania in 1956 and serving Kansas City since 1981, the company has grown beyond its lumber yard roots. Under the leadership of Tyler Golub, General Manager of 84 Lumber in Kansas City, that service- driven approach continues to expand.

“We are project-focused,” Tyler says. “We excel at helping builders, contractors, and homeowners alike complete their projects.”

For builders and homeowners, that means access to a broader range of services than traditional suppliers provide. In addition to large-scale lumber packages, 84 Lumber supports projects with windows and doors, engineered  components, installation services, and large project support. The team reviews plans, completes material takeoffs, and works with builders to anticipate challenges and keep projects moving.

“If you’re going to build a house, you could go to another lumber supplier,” Tyler says. “But we can go through the plans. We can tell you about the materials you think you’ll need. We can troubleshoot issues with the framers on the jobsite. It’s full service.”

That full-service approach extends beyond material delivery. 84 Lumber offers installation packages that combine materials and labor under one coordinated scope, simplifying communication and strengthening accountability. By consolidating services, builders reduce vendor overlap and gain clearer oversight.

“We have a full-service framing install program,” Tyler says. “We can help take a project from design and takeoff all the way through dry-in framing install.”

Rather than simply delivering materials onsite, 84 Lumber employs framing crews and manages installation through its Installed Sales division. As a licensed General Contractor with in-house installation managers, the company provides oversight and accountability. Installation services extend beyond framing to include windows, doors, and siding when needed. For larger or multi-phase projects, dedicated installation managers oversee schedules and material flow from start to finish, maintaining continuity and control.

Operational flexibility strengthens that partnership. When schedules tighten or volume increases, the team adapts, adjusting delivery timing or adding trucks to keep materials moving. The goal is straightforward: solve problems before they disrupt progress.

“A partnership is something we want to pursue,” Tyler says. “We want a project to stay at or under budget and make sure what they have or want in concept gets built in reality.”

In Kansas City, the Lenexa window and door showroom reinforces that service-first philosophy. The space features an extensive selection of Andersen window displays, allowing homeowners and builders to compare styles, finishes, and operating systems firsthand. Seeing and operating products in person brings clarity and confidence to the buying process. The showroom also features premium decking displays, allowing builders and homeowners to evaluate color, texture, and durability as outdoor living spaces grow in demand.

For builders and homeowners, 84 Lumber offers more than materials. Their focus is simple: solve problems early, stay on budget, and keep projects moving, from pricing through production. The team at 84 Lumber is aligned and focused on helping Kansas City build more houses and complete more projects.

WHAT’S NEXT

“We’re excited about the opportunity for builders and homeowners to see our window and door offerings in person through our Lenexa showroom. Being able to experience the displays firsthand, while working with someone at 84 Lumber who understands the project from beginning to end, adds clarity and confidence to the process and helps bring it to life.”
