With the changing of the seasons, life changes not just outside the home, but inside as well. Before doing a room refresher, we sat down with Georgia Jones, designer at A&M Home Furnishings to give you insight on the latest trends. Her long-time passion for interior design and more than a dozen years at A&M have made her a staple in Kansas City’s design and furniture arena. With her genuine enthusiasm and seasoned experience, Georgia shared what she sees coming in the realm of furniture trends.

KCH&S:  If one is considering updating their seating options, are there any furniture pieces they should be looking at?

A&M:  Fall 2025 trends in furniture continue to highlight sofas that are both comfortable and stylish, plus textures remain in big demand. Swivel chairs in all shapes and sizes are 2025 staples for their comfort and versatility, especially in homes with open floor plans.

KCH&S:  What are the styles coming down the pipeline?

A&M:  We will be seeing softer, rounder shapes in upholstery, as well as case pieces have seen a rise in popularity. Watch for arched bookcases and étagères, curvy chairs, and round cocktail tables that feel cozy and inviting.

KCH&S:  Wood is retaining its popularity in furniture as both the sole material and as an accent material. Are there colors that are more prevalent than others?

A&M:  Cerused white oak and light to medium brown matte stains are in high demand for a relaxed modern feel, while we are also seeing interest in timeless traditional wood pieces in richer polished woods for those looking for a classic neo-traditional vibe.

KCH&S:  Are earth tones maintaining their presence in interior design?

A&M:  All shades of green are still very popular, while browns and russet shades are feeling fresh and adding a warm contrast when paired with today’s white and greige interiors.

KCH&S:  Are there any styles of art that we’ll be seeing?

A&M:  Large scale art, whether it be colorful abstracts, moody landscapes, or strong graphics, is very much in demand for showcasing individuality as well as creating impact and atmosphere.

KCH&S:  While everyone loves sitting in a comfortable chair, but doesn’t want to indulge at the cost of style, what suggestions can you share?

A&M:  They are in luck! Motion furniture that is stylish and avoids the overstuffed rec room feeling is much in demand. Especially popular are power recliners with power headrests that provide ultimate comfort without sacrificing style. Trends for Fall 2025 continue to include beautiful leathers in greige tones, as well as warm browns.
