Kansas City summers are packed with events — weddings, rooftop happy hours, and backyard BBQs. And while the weather often feels like you’re walking through a sauna, that doesn’t mean style has to take a back seat. When the RSVP calls for “summer chic,” I reach for a dress like this — easy, elevated, and ready for whatever the day (or night) throws my way.
This printed dress checks all the summer boxes: lightweight, breathable, and effortlessly stylish. The cobalt and ivory palm-like pattern gives off vacation energy, while the tie-strap shoulders and peekaboo waist detail keep things playful. It’s giving Mediterranean holiday, even if I’m just headed to Crossroads for brunch with the girls.
I kept the accessories simple but intentional. A black leather top-handle bag adds structure and a hint of contrast to the flow of the dress. Gold layered necklaces and a chunky ring bring a touch of polish without going overboard. Notice the pearl touches — a big trend in accessories right now. Thong sandals are also having a moment. This sleek black pair is minimal but modern, and goes easily with your summer dresses and jeans.
This outfit proves that looking chic in the Midwest heat doesn’t have to mean sacrificing comfort. Kansas City, you bring the heat — I’ll bring the style.
