This charming Leawood home offers the best of both worlds: a powder room for him and a powder room for her. Designed by Heather Gormsen, interior designer with ML Designs, this particular bathroom remodel is his, and the transformation it has undergone is remarkable. Formerly a brown and rather uninspired area, this space has beautifully embraced a personality all its own.

“When the homeowner moved here three years ago, the house was very Tuscan, and this bathroom was rather dark and drab,” noted Gormsen. “We ended up gutting this bathroom and starting all over.” The homeowner already had the mirror and light fixtures. She added the vanity and faucet, as well as the eye-catching wallpaper.

“I just love wallpaper, as there are so many options, textures, patterns, and colors from which to choose. This one is a vinyl, so it is thick, durable, and easy to clean,” expressed Gormsen, who indicated this particular style reads a bit like an animal print with hints of faux bois, which translates to fake wood, giving it the appearance of wood grain elements. “I think it has hints of both of these patterns.”

The stylish three-drawer vanity offers a charming addition with a bit of utility, as well.

“The bottom two drawers are functioning, but the interior of the top one was cut out to accommodate the plumbing,” said Gormsen, who chose a polished nickel faucet to accent the Carrera marble countertop.
