Cool Khaki

If you’re looking for a sure-fire way to add some sophistication to your summer style, consider a head-to-toe khaki outfit. How pretty is this warm, sandy hue with a bit of a tan? (Faux, of course!) Let’s dig into how to execute this look not only to max out on style points but comfort as well.

The star of the show? These super wide-leg trousers. A high waist, dramatic vertical pleating, and a ground-skimming hem combine to stretch the leg line and make me look a lot taller than my usual 5’5. (A bonus!) To lean into the monochrome theme, I tucked a matching tank into the trousers.

A wide cognac-colored leather belt adds a pop of contrast while staying in the neutral lane, breaking up all that khaki at the narrowest part of my waist. If slimming is one of your style goals, this is where you want to belt versus the hip area.

To beat the KC heat with this look, I made sure to choose summer-friendly fabrics. My top here is breathable cotton, while the trousers are a lightweight polyester with a bit of stretch in the waistband. Pro tip: going with a voluminous trouser or maxi skirt rather than anything bodycon is the key to wearing longer lengths in the summer. (And not sweating right through ‘em!)

The end result? An elegant, safari-adjacent vibe that works in a variety of venues, from a patio brunch with your pals to a candlelit dinner with your significant other.

Cheers to a chic summer, Kansas City!
