Kitchen Bath & Home

Customized Cabinetry

Story by Judy Goppert    /    Sponsored Content

Kitchen Bath & Home presents: KB&H, Kansas City’s cabinet design center located in Mission, KS. KB&H is Kansas City’s only showroom that exclusively offers Custom Wood Products and Profile Cabinets and Countertops.

When Custom Wood Products owners, Kevin and Caroline Gray, purchased Profile cabinets in 2022, they brought the two cabinet lines together into the newest Kansas City showroom experience and called it Kitchen Bath & Home.

Profile Cabinets, originally Quality Wood Products, set the standard for KC cabinetry in 1961. The reason KC cabinets are different from other areas of the country, is because Moe Moerschel brought his cabinet making talents from old Germany. Today, Profile continues with Mo’s method of custom gang-built cabinetry with 120 dedicated craftsmen, many of whom have been with Profile for over 20 years. Customers know they can count on Profile for quality in design, product and service.

Custom Wood Products, also a custom gang-built cabinet following Mo’s influence, was started in 1981 by Don Lake, a local home builder who recognized the need for a quality cabinet in the Topeka/Manhattan area. Located in the small town of Saint Marys, KS, Custom Wood Products and its 150 cabinet makers prides itself on the quality of design, workmanship and service, much like its sister company, Profile.  As a standard, both divisions produce pre-finished, conversion varnished stained and painted cabinets, with the option of unfinished cabinets for builders preferring to site finish their cabinets. You may select from our many standard finish options, or we can custom match to your specifications.

Now one big family, Kitchen Bath & Home, Custom Wood Products and Profile look forward to many years of honoring their Midwest heritage and reputation for quality craftsmanship.

KB&H’s talented design and sales staff, many with over 25 years of cabinet design experience, stand ready to help you create the project of your dreams. They will present options and work through design details using 3-D modeling and rendered images which they’ll review with you in our Selection Center or in your home. KB&H will design, supply and install your cabinets and countertops. While they are not a turn-key remodeler or builder, they will partner with your designer, remodeler or builder to ensure that the delivery and installation of your cabinets is a positive experience. Exceeding your expectations is their goal! The team has experience ranging from remodels, large and small, to new residential construction and multi-family living.

Billie Deatherage, CKD, joined KB&H in 2024 after working as an independent architectural and certified kitchen designer for over 25 years. She represents KB&H as Brand Ambassador for the greater Kansas City market. There are 10 design and sales representatives working from the Mission showroom, with an additional 13 designers at showrooms in Lawrence, Topeka and Manhattan. KB&H has been selected to design the Kitchen, Working Pantry and Butler’s Pantry for the 55th Symphony Designers’ Showhouse, which will be open for tour April 26 – May 18th.

KB&H – a design center for Custom Wood Products and Profile cabinets; featuring the brands you know by the design team you trust.

What’s Next

Deatherage said, “Homeowners are leaning toward more natural wood cabinets with lighter to medium stains, along with more colorful cabinets in blues, greens and earth tones. Rift-sawn white oak and walnut are the most popular wood species. Styling with clean, simple lines continues to dominate. Kitchen Bath & Home’s “Skyline” door is an example of the newer “micro” or “slim” Shaker style, a versatile, popular look which works in traditional or contemporary settings. Hidden storage features and open shelving present many aesthetic and functional options. Workstation sinks such as our Galley series also continue to gain popularity, allowing for multiple functions for prep, clean up and entertaining.”
