Striped Palazzo Pants for Early Fall
Story by Ashley White of Le Stylo Rouge | Photos by Sabrina Osborn
Ah, fall in Kansas City! Crisp air, bright foliage, and spiced cider beverages. It also means we get to swap the summery things for fall-friendly layers — like blazers and trousers.
I know it’s fall when I start dipping back into my blazer collection. It’s a timeless piece that is light enough for warmer October days, but substantial enough to keep the chill at bay. Weather-permitting, it makes a polished alternative to a jacket. If you’re looking for a modern fit, choose a longline blazer (where the hem hits mid-thigh vs. right at the hip) and a scrunched sleeve.
I layered this navy blazer over an ivory camisole bodysuit, which tucked easily into a pair of striped palazzo trousers. I love how the super-wide legs of the pant added some volume, all in a fun, fall-esque print. If you haven’t hopped on the bodysuit trend, try it! Note: not all bodysuits are bodycon; some are cut to blouse at the waist, which makes for a very flattering fit.
You can’t talk about fall outfitting without talking ankle boots. To work with the mahogany and navy in the rest of this look, I slipped on a pair of cognac-colored leather boots. The chunky heel and almond toe lended a casual vibe to the otherwise elevated look.
Sprinkle in a few of-the-moment accessories (like gold hoops and a chain-link necklace), and you’re ready for whatever early fall has to throw at you. What I love about this look is that it’s definitely suited for cooler weather, but it doesn’t immediately jump into the deep end of your sweater collection. A girl loves options!
Cheers to October, KC!
