Bringing your creative ideas to life and placing them all throughout your home is a great feeling. When you work with Picture Perfect Interiors, your creative interests are joined with the experience and talent of their designers, leading to a cohesive, beautiful final outcome.

When asking homeowner Kim Sanders about the benefits of working with a professional interior designer, she shares this about Picture Perfect Interiors, a full-service design center and retailer located at 11922 College Boulevard in Overland Park.

Sheryl Nelson, owner and Christy Renner

“Picture Perfect Interiors and Christy Renner are wonderful to work with.

Christy has taken time to understand my style.

When updating my home, she adds the perfect polish and she works tirelessly to find pieces that I absolutely love.

She has made my home look and feel amazing.”

Sanders, whose Cedar Creek home is featured here, has great style and is very resourceful, but she’s a busy professional. For nearly 15 years, Sanders has enjoyed working with Renner on projects large and small, including a total kitchen makeover and several room refreshes. Sanders also enjoys visiting the Picture Perfect Interiors retail store, where she frequently picks up a fun piece or two to update a room or fill a space after post-holiday “undecorating.”

According to Renner, Sanders has fabulous flair and is fun to work with. “I love getting to know my clients and learning about their lifestyles, then helping them implement changes that increase functionality and style.”

Sanders’ kitchen was transformed from a dark, heavy Tuscan Style to an elegant, calming transitional space. A new custom island with a mitered edge countertop, custom range hood, and new cabinet doors with glass inserts create an updated wow to an area that previously had a heavy atmosphere. The existing cabinets were refreshed with paint, and a new backsplash and lighting completed the update. “It isn’t necessary to replace everything to completely transform a space,” says Renner.

Sanders and other clients appreciate the practical advice that the Picture Perfect Interiors design team offers. Business owner and designer Sheryl Nelson acknowledges the importance of developing creative solutions to meet the financial investment the client establishes, while achieving the overall design objectives and vision. Many times, these solutions involve creating feature walls, reupholstering furniture, refinishing floors, or simply updating light fixtures or cabinet hardware.

“We strive to make the transformation of any space an enjoyable, smooth process for our clients,” says Renner.

A designer can save the client valuable time, resources and energy by bringing fully-vetted contractors to the project and guiding the selection of budget-friendly materials. “Each project begins with us listening to the client’s desires and any limitations we need to respect. With that in mind, we assemble the best-suited team and our collaborative journey begins,” says Nelson.

Picture Perfect Interiors prides itself on the strong relationships it has with general contractors and other industry professionals like carpenters, painters, and installers of tile, flooring and countertops. “A successful project requires a team. And ongoing communication and respect among the client, the designer and the trades is crucial. It’s a privilege to be welcomed into our clients’ homes to design and manage their projects as a trusted professional and advocate,” says Nelson. “It may sound corny, but at the end of the day we want our clients to walk into the spaces we’ve helped them create and smile.”
