Getting Cozy This Winter

A brand spankin’ new year!  I’m kicking off 2022 by aiming my style sights for a cozy-but-chic vibe to combat the cold. Winters in Kansas City are notorious for brutal winter weather – from polar vortexes to the occasional ice storm, staying warm is the top priority.

A long, turtleneck dress in a go-with-anything gray knit is just what January ordered. This dress is so snuggly! It’s like being wrapped up in your favorite blanket, except it’s way more fashionable.

Shoe choice? Again, we’re looking for warmth, so I’m sticking with a tall boot. This patent leather faux croc boot with a cowboy spin is both super stylish and acts as a guard against the winter wind.

What I love about this look? It functions as a chic standalone outfit, but it also works as a base layer for those near-zero days. Add an oversized blazer for some polish, a leather jacket with a strong shoulder to add edge, or use a long cardigan in a contrasting color to amp up the snuggle factor.

Warmer February days? ( They do exist as a KC winter reprieve! ) Swap the tall boot for a shorter ankle boot. Want to lean into a sporty look? Try a sneaker.

You can always add statement jewelry if you want to punch things up. A statement necklace is a perfect opportunity to add some color, too! Or forgo the necklace and try an oversized stud earring with a bright lip.

Keep it cozy, Kansas City!
