Now that those early spring cold spells are (hopefully) behind us, it’s time to really break out the warm-weather wardrobes. In this month’s edition of The Closet, I’m doing just that while also bringing you an updated version of the classic little white dress.
The LWD gets a remix here in an airy, voluminous silhouette. A shirt collar balances a short hemline, while the main focus stays on these oversized, ruched puff sleeves. The result? Floaty and super playful.
So how do you personalize a dress with so much personality? Add your own touch in the accessory department. I dipped into the brights and neons to help accent this look: a pair of Barbie-worthy neon pink pumps and an adorable sunshine yellow minibag.
The minibag is another trend you’ll be seeing this spring and summer; it encourages you to pare down those heavier totes and leave the house with just the bare necessities. Look for a version with a strap so you can sling it crossbody and keep your hands free while chatting at happy hour or running errands. Bright colors are also in for 2022 – think grassy greens, royal purples, and cobalt blues.
What I love about this look? It’s really quite simple to put together. The strong sleeves of the dress and the bright accessories make it seem way trickier than it actually is to wear. Never fear, you can absolutely stick this style landing!
