As the summer wears on, the heat and humidity make it a challenge to stay stylish without breaking too much of a sweat. But don’t worry, Kansas City, that’s where I come in! I’m here to show you don’t have to sacrifice style to beat the heat.

A summer dress is a standard choice for the breeze aspect, but the real key to staying cool is the fabric you choose. The two most important factors: lightweight and breathable. Cotton, linen, and bamboo-based textiles are where you want to start.

Take this dress, for example. It’s ribbed cotton with enough weight to hang nicely (and resist wrinkling!) while still staying lightweight. The breathability is there, while the sleeveless cut helps you stay unencumbered and cool.

We amp things up in the style category with our color choice. For this look, it’s a brilliant fire coral orange. Nothing says high summer quite like a vibrant citrus shade! The right mix of punchy and loud without being too much.

I accessorized with some summer go-to jewelry: lightweight gold pieces and a necklace with a shell pendant for good measure. Pro tip: bulky, heavy jewelry is a quick way to literally lose your cool, no matter how breezy the rest of your outfit is. Keep it light!

A pair of leather strappy sandals and classic Ray-Bans rounded out this chic summer look. From the office to outdoor weddings, I’m ready!
