Holiday Tailoring In Olive Green

November is here, and you know what that means – the holiday season is night! I’m planning my festive looks for the season, starting with this olive monochrome outfit. It’s just what I’m looking for: polished, practical, and quietly festive.

The foundation is a cropped cable-knit sweater – cozy, but nothing too heavy. Look for a breathable cotton knit, so you won’t break a sweat if you end up helping in the kitchen during Thanksgiving. The cropped length adds a modern edge paired  with a high-rise trouser, and the combo makes the whole outfit feel intentional rather than bulky.

Speakers of trousers, let’s chat about these olive green wide-leg pants. The crisp pleats and tailored waistband are a fun mix of shape and movement, and the lightweight suiting means maximum comfort. (Enough to sit through a holiday dinner or breeze through your Christmas party comfortably!) The trousers work perfectly with shiny chocolate leather loafers that add polish without calling attention away from the tonal outfit.

I finished the look with a few popular pieces: a corded necklace with a sculptural pendant and a pair of leopard hoops. While the core elements of this outfit are timeless, the accessories are on-trend.

Styling notes for remixing this look: swap the loafers for a pointed-toe kitten heel if you want to dress things up. Polar vortex holiday? A thin cashmere turtleneck or tee under the sweater acts as a base layer, and slip on a pair of wool socks with the loafers. You’ll still be in style while staying cozy!
