One of my favorite trends for spring and summer is a monochrome outfit. It’s so chic and means you don’t have worry about mixing and matching colors! Plus wearing the same color head to toe can make a serious statement.
I went for a bright ensemble — what better way to welcome almost-summer than with an almost-neon fuchsia? This dress not only catches your eye, the linen fabric keeps you cool as the humidity in KC rises. We’ve all been there – come June, breezy is the name of the style game in the Midwest.
Isn’t the swing in this dress something? It’s twirl-worthy. Those oversized buttons and super sleeves are two trends you’ll be seeing more of this summer. A tie at the waist cinches everything in, drawing the eye inward and keeping the dress from becoming a bright fuchsia potato sack.
I had just the shoe to match the dress: this suede pump was a perfect match! A sleek, classic style in an eye-catching color is a recipe for shoe success. A closed-toe also anchored the look more in spring as opposed to high summer, when I’ll swap out this pump for a strappy sandal. (Or, if you want to keep it casual, slip on a sneaker.)
I kept the accessories light, layering on a few dainty gold necklaces. Instant luxury without the heft of a heavy statement necklace.
Looking for ways to remix a monochrome look like this? Break things up with a denim jacket in either bright white or washed-out blue. You could also unbutton the dress and wear it as a linen kimono jacket over an easy tank top and jeans (either full-length or shorts).
I’m challenging you to create a monochrome look this season, Kansas City! Embrace the bright.
