Here comes the sunshine, Kansas City! I’m celebrating in a shimmery sunny floral dress. What keeps this dress right in line with the spring trends? Let’s discuss how I’m wearing it here and how you can remix it in the weeks to come.

A statement sleeve. Sleeves that make a statement are a key trend right now. This extra flair – be it a slight poof or a legit balloon like I’m wearing here – adds that little something extra to elevate a piece.

Look for: tops and dresses with an anything-but-basic sleeve. Think height, think ruching, think volume – it all plays!

A full skirt. We’re seeing lots of volume in the dresses and skirts of Spring 2021 and this dress falls right in line. Very swingy, super girly, and all-around fun to wear.

Look for: babydoll dresses, pleated skirts with lots of movement, and bias-cut maxi dresses. The more fabric, the better! If you want to define your waist, loop on a belt to cinch things in.

A retro floral print. Lots of 70s and 90s prints in the mix right now. I love the warm colors of this apricot floral – it feels like sunshine!

Look for: anything from dainty daisies to bright blossoms. Lots of room to play here; everyone can find something in the throwback floral category to wet that fashion whistle.

Now onto the shoes and accessories! Have you tried an illusion stiletto? This nude heel sports a double transparent strap and a pointed toe. The result is a major leg-lengthening effect – the transparent strap means the leg line never gets broken, leaving you with legs for days.

With a warmer floral, you know I had to accent it with lots of gold jewelry. We’re seeing a mix of 80s vibes (think chunky gold links, chains) with 90s minimal (super dainty necklaces and barely-there rings), which add up to a modern dose of accessory fun.

What I love about this outfit? It works in so many places: Mother’s Day with the family, a dressy brunch with girlfriends, or a flirty date night. It’s a dress that goes everywhere!
