In the dynamic world of Kansas City real estate, few professionals have made as significant an impact as Pam Baker. With 14 years of experience under her belt, Baker has found her true calling at Weichert Realtors, Welch & Company, where she serves as the Director of Expansion and Relations. Her role is pivotal in shaping the company’s growth and maintaining its reputation as a leader in the industry.

Baker’s approach to real estate is deeply rooted in building lasting relationships. “We build relationships with our clients. We educate them and spend time with them,” she explained. This client-centric philosophy has been a driving force behind Weichert’s impressive growth, with the company hiring over 80 new agents in the past year alone, bringing their total to about 190 agents.

Weichert’s expansion isn’t just in personnel. The company will soon open a new branch in the Equity Bank building at 7035 College Boulevard in Overland Park, Kansas. This strategic move complements their home office in Stanley, Kansas, allowing Weichert to better serve their growing client base across the metro area.

What sets Baker apart is her comprehensive approach to real estate. As a Licensed Broker in both Kansas and Missouri, she brings a wealth of knowledge to her role at Weichert. But her expertise doesn’t stop there. Baker also serves as the Client Care Manager for Suma Design, a company owned by her husband, Mark Sumada. This unique position allows her to offer a full-service approach as both a new construction specialist and Realtor.

“We understand the integrity of our business,” Baker reflected, highlighting her commitment to maintaining high standards in all aspects of her work. This integrity extends to Weichert’s hiring practices – they’re selective about who joins their team, ensuring they bring on board individuals who share their values and vision.

Baker’s passion truly shines in the new construction arena, which comprises roughly 30% of Weichert’s market. “We create our own inventory,” she emphasized, referring to Weichert’s involvement in over 40 subdivisions throughout the metro area, primarily in the southern part of town with a few up north. The average price point for these properties is over $700,000, reflecting the high-end market they serve.

Weichert’s agents are thriving, averaging about 13 deals per year – a figure she noted is high for any brokerage. This success is a testament to Baker’s ability to nurture talent and create an environment where agents can excel.

Baker’s dual background in interior design and real estate brokerage gives her a unique edge in the market. She takes a holistic approach to home building by offering design, brokerage, and construction services, ensuring a simplified and integrated experience for her clients. Her innate ability to connect with and understand her clients’ visions has made her an invaluable asset to Weichert, ensuring they remain leaders in the industry.

“It’s nice to have the energy that we have,” Baker said, referring to the vibrant atmosphere at Weichert. This energy is palpable in the innovative ideas that clients bring to new home construction projects, which Baker finds particularly exciting. “We cherish the opportunity to provide unique and quality living spaces for our clients, focusing on innovation, environmental consciousness, and enhancing quality of life,” she added.

But for Baker and the team at Weichert, success isn’t just about building houses – it’s about creating communities. To that end, Weichert has initiated Mi Gente KC, a bilingual arm of the company created to be highly inclusive within their communities. This initiative reflects Baker’s understanding that real estate is about more than just properties – it’s about creating environments where people can truly thrive.

As Weichert Realtors, Welch & Company continues to grow, one thing remains constant: their commitment to building lasting relationships. Whether it’s with clients, team members, or the broader community, Baker understands that success in real estate is built on a foundation of trust, integrity, and genuine care for others.

In a world where transactions often take precedence, Baker’s relationship-first approach stands as a refreshing and successful model for the future of real estate. Her leadership at Weichert is not just shaping houses – it’s building the future of Kansas City, one relationship at a time.
