Craftsmanship and Exceptional Service Builder

Garret Syler is enjoying what he calls his “best year yet.” While that may sound a bit unusual, considering the tumultuous times in which we currently find ourselves with the coronavirus pandemic. As one of the metro area’s award-winning home builders, however, Syler is just doing what he does best: integrating exceptional craftsmanship and service into every single one of his floor plans. This is a strategy to which he has always applied himself. He simply continues to perfect it year after year, and his clients fully experience his commitment to delivering a product that goes above and beyond any and all expectations.

Working as co-owner alongside his father, Jerry, who has been in the trade for four decades, Syler appreciates what it means to provide the utmost in customer service and satisfaction. As a result, he holds himself and his team to impeccably high standards to ensure each homeowner receives undivided attention and respect.

“We are extremely hands-on and deal directly with each client throughout the entire building process,” emphasized Syler. “We are very structured in our process and strive to ensure we are all on the same page so we can work together to build that dream home.”

To that end, Syler has created a Selections & Options book, which includes a fully comprehensive collection of interior and exterior pre-construction selections for the home, from foundation to roof and every design and construction detail in-between. It is also customized for each subdivision, as covenants are different within each one. When partnering with Syler Construction to build your new home, you are guaranteed a highly detailed and thorough approach to the process.

“This allows us to set a realistic budget and not simply an estimation of what things will cost,” indicated Syler. “All selections are documented to avoid changes throughout the building process. This book makes it easy for us to guide the clients through what they want and also lets them know the cost upfront so there are no surprises down the road.”

Although Syler Construction has built in numerous communities, including The Palisades in Riverside; Staley Farms in Kansas City; and Davidson Farms at Shoal Creek in Kansas City, the company’s current focus is in the Meadows at Greenfield in Kearney, Missouri, a community in which Syler not only builds but also one he has developed. Syler also plans to begin building at Eagle Pointe Preserve at Shoal Creek Valley, a high-end community featuring homes from $600,000 to over $1 million.

“For our homes in this golf course community, we plan to incorporate all the bells and whistles, including 10-foot basement walls; upgraded tile and lighting, suspended garages, glazed overhead door panels and Presidential shingles,” noted Syler.

Syler Construction employs an experienced team, including Megan Seise, in-house project manager and interior designer, who works directly with each client to assist them with their choices. Syler also has two superintendents who work alongside clients from start to finish, controlling the project at different points.

“Both Chris Barklage and Chad Burkhart have their own unique strengths which help create a stress-free build process for our clients and keep the job running smoothly, accurately, and correctly,” emphasized Syler.

Syler understands that building a new home is just as exciting as it is overwhelming. With that in mind, he uses a cloud-based project management software that helps keep your project on track and helps keep you up-to-date on everything in the process. Buildertrend acts as a personal assistant while Syler and his team complete your project. Through this application, you have round-the-clock access to every single detail going into your new home. Plus, you can access it from any computer, tablet or other mobile device. Translation? Building your new home is not only less stressful, it is also an enjoyable and memorable experience. Throughout the life of the building of your home, you can stay on top of construction schedules, get daily updates, see photos and videos of the progress and even review budgets and payment options. In short, it keeps you, the builder and everyone else involved in one of the most important projects in your life all on the same page so decision and deadlines are easily met.

More than just incorporating extraordinary functionality into each home, Syler also relies on a full tool box of ideas when it comes to installing that undeniable “wow” factor into each home. This includes unique features such as a Tetris vault ceiling, designed like an intricate maze with pendant lights dropped in, boxed beams, accent walls, expansive kitchen, floor-to-ceiling stone fireplace flanked with custom cabinets, and a 12-foot double sliding doors that leads out to a covered or screened-in deck are hallmarks of Syler’s design savvy and prowess.

As Syler Construction continues to move forward, this company remains highly competitive, building in communities as well as on private lots or land.

“We compete with both speculative and custom builders,” Syler explained. “We create the feel of a custom home with additional upgrades, but also maintain a simple base price with extras the homeowners can choose within a matter of just a couple of hours by making selections in the book.”
