Lemon Palm Print For High Summer

It’s blazing hot outside right now, Kansas City. I don’t know about you, but I’m on the hunt for outfits that not only hit the trends but keep me cool and have some versatility. Sound like a tall order? Let me show you how to navigate.

First stop: get playful with your prints! I’m all about a summery motif right now, so this lemon palm print set was calling my name. Consider an outfit like this that is all about relaxed cuts in lightweight fabrics — no suffocating body-con business in this humidity, thank you very much. The higher waist and longer hem of the shorts mean you can wear these just about anywhere.

Next step: a pair of natural sandals to give a warm-weather touch. Want something easy to walk in? Look for a sandal with a block heel; they’re much easier to navigate and still give you that lengthening effect.

Accessories are next— and bold gold jewelry is making a comeback! Think gold chains and links à la jewelry styles of the 70s and 80s. I layered on a few pieces from local designer Sierra Winter to give this look some retro attitude.

Versatility is important in every season, but especially during the summer when we move from the boiling outdoors to chilly air-conditioned spaces. A linen blazer is a great piece to have on hand for just these occasions. Slip it over your shoulders once you move indoors for some added warmth and polish, like this olive green blazer. Very chic and hits on some of the tones in the palm print.

Everything in this look can be broken up and worn separately — the remix reigns! Wear the palm tank with a long, beachy white skirt or tucked into a pair of classic Levi’s. Take the high-waisted shorts and wear them with a chambray shirt, knotted at the waist. These sandals would be cute with jeans, and you can absolutely take this blazer to the office over a pair of classic trousers when the time comes.

How’s for staying cool and stylish this summer, KC?
