Linen Summer Style

Kansas City’s humidity in the late summer is no joke. As the temperature rises, I opt for breathable fabrics and easy silhouettes that keep me cool without compromising style. Enter this outfit: a white vest paired with navy linen trousers featuring a subtle pinstripe.

Linen is the MVP here: airy, drapey, and versatile enough to pair with anything from a simple tank to a crisp blouse. Linen is everywhere right now, yet it’s been a summer go-to forever thanks to its unbeatable breathability. The pants transition seamlessly from a day at the office to after-hours drinks, as we’re all embracing casual corporate fashion these days. Blue has been a theme in my closet lately, and these navy trousers are right in that lane.

The vest’s tailored fit adds some structure, but a deep v-neck and sleeveless feature keep things cool. Vests are endlessly versatile — wear one solo like a tank or layer it over a basic tee, and suddenly you’ve opened up a world of styling options.

I elevated the look with a gemstone necklace that catches the light and ties in that deep blue hue. A gemstone necklace is a great addition to your accessory rotation, injecting a pop of color into your usual silver or gold stack or serving as a refreshing alternative to an all-metal vibe. On my feet are sandals with a standout toe detail, combining comfort for long walks and a fashion-forward twist that feels right on trend.

In the summer swelter, it’s all about balancing ease with sophistication, and this outfit does just that. Stay cool out there, KC!
