Sweater weather has arrived! I don’t know about you, KC, but I’m pumped about this seasonal development. Don’t get me wrong, summer is fun – but fall has my fashion heart. The return of so many great wardrobe elements. Chunky knits! Trousers! Boots! Jackets!
We’re diving into a cool striped theme for this October outfit. Let’s start with a mustard and blush slouchy striped sweater. Who knew this colorway could shine so bright? I love the wide neckline, which allows for a little shoulder action and a peek of a black tank layered underneath.
The second part of the outfit is a pair of ecru Adidas track pants. They give a definitive sporty vibe, but the fabric is a luxe crepe material that drapes beautifully. These trousers are the adult version of those tear-away snap pants we wore in middle school. Elevated, cool, a little offbeat. I’m also very into the mustard stripe motif down the leg, matching the sweater perfectly.
I wanted to dress this look up even more, so here’s where it gets even more interesting. Enter a pair of blush patient slingback heels (slingbacks are everywhere this fall!) and a black statement belt. These choices were not only about adding formality but also tying in colors from elsewhere in the look. The heels complemented that blush stripe in the sweater, and the belt was a nice nod to the black tank top I had layered underneath.
The final result? A cool, unexpected fall outfit that gives a nod to the classics while feeling very quirky and current. And just right for October in Kansas City!
