Her life path led her to this dream job she cherishes.
“I have been selling homes since July 2005, and prior to that I worked for Barkley Evergreen advertising agency for 11 months after graduating with a journalism and Strat Comm degree from KU in 2004,” she noted. “I had always had a love for houses and design so that was in the back of my mind. I decided to get my real estate license so took classes at night while working at Barkley.”
She does believe she uses her marketing type mindset daily in her interactions. She lives what she breathes in real estate, and discussed that two years ago when she and her husband, Nick, gutted and expanded their own house for the second time. They revamped it incorporating an outdoor kitchen to share with their family and friends. They recently purchased a house near them and plan to knock it down and build a new house. Flipping houses is a hobby they enjoy together. Nick, her husband, is a mortgage lender with Academy Bank, and together they have three darling children, Grady, 11, Charlotte, 8 and Evie, 6.
“No matter what the price point, whether it is $5 million or $50,000, every one of my clients gets the same amount of attention. I strive to ensure that the house I’m selling is a good investment for them since it is their largest life investment,” she admonished. “I want to make sure I am doing my due diligence and being responsible with their money. I am 100 percent referral based and sell 60 to 90 houses each year.”
When the question was posed to her about the Kansas City real estate market, she confirmed that she does not see a reason it will crash anytime soon, noting that we are not New York or Los Angeles. She feels strongly that the housing market in the greater Kansas City Metro area is not going to fail since we are in the Midwest.
“I try to set a realistic expectation for sellers and buyers and remind them that there is no set rule on how houses will move. One house may get 15 offers, while another sits for 60 days. There is no rhyme or reason. I just do my best to educate each seller and buyer in the market,” she smiled.
On being one of our Stars, she shared, “I am thankful for where I am today, and my business, and everyone continuing to trust me with their purchases and sales of their homes. It is so fun to help them with a purchase when they get out of college, get married, then retire or downsize to be closer to grandkids or enjoy retirement. Every growth spurt, I’m happy to be a part of that. I love my job and would not trade it for the world”. Lindsay’s world is certainly busy with her 3 kids, but it is important that she never miss every minute of her kids growing up. “I love seeing every sports game, recital, tennis lesson and all their activities. It certainly takes a village, but I am always up for the challenge. People think I am nuts for trying to do it all, but I love my family and my job and want to make sure I can give both one hundred percent!”
Among the many charitable causes to which Schulze contributes, whether in time or in resources, include her church, New Beginnings Dog Rescue, Wayside Waifs, The Michael J. Fox Foundation, Susan G. Komen, BBBS, Children’s Mercy, her children’s school and many more. Giving to organizations and causes that hold significance and meaning to her fuels her spirit.
