4 Unique Homes in Falcon Ridge Estates

On Wednesday, November 8th and Thursday, November 9th, the home tour being only on the 9th, Johnson County Young Matrons will host its annual Holiday Boutique and Homes Tour. This long-running event has been attended and enjoyed by so many while simultaneously raising funds for the surrounding community. It has two wonderful parts you don’t want to miss – a holiday boutique filled with items from local businesses and a holiday décor tour that showcases four lavishly decorated homes by local designers and florists.

The festivities will begin on Wednesday evening, November 8  from 4-9 pm with the opening of the holiday boutique. Vendors will be selling a wide variety of products including florals, books, jewelry, clothing, artwork, and much more! The boutique will continue on Thursday, November 9 from 9:30 am – 7 pm. This year’s boutique location is the Ball Event Center at 21350 W 153rd Street in Olathe, KS.

For a little something extra, on Wednesday night from 5:30-8:30 treat yourself to Whimsical Winter Wishes! For only $20 you’ll receive two “Whimsical” cocktails, a snack, plus a surprise  gift.

This year’s home tour on Thursday, November 9th from 9:30am-7pm, will take place in the grand Falcon Ridge Estates, off Prairie Star Parkway on Sunset Circle in Lenexa, KS, with four homes dressed for the holiday celebrations. Tickets are $30 per person and can be purchased at www.jcym.net and at the Holiday Boutique. Tickets are also available to these Hen House locations at 119th & Roe, 83rd & Mission Rd, 135th & Metcalf, and 87th & Lackman.

JCYM is grateful to our homeowners, decorators, tablescape designers, and volunteers for making “Home for the Holidays” possible. A very special thank you also goes to our sponsors for their underwriting dollars and the Tour and Boutique patrons for their attendance and support. This year’s recipients are Evergreen Living Innovations, Shawnee Indian Mission Foundation, Growing Futures Early Education Center, Johnson County Christmas Bureau, KidsTLC, SAFEHOME and philanthropy-related scholarships.

Johnson County Young Matrons is an all-volunteer women’s service organization founded in 1961. Philanthropy has been the hallmark of JCYM since its beginning, best illustrated when they donated the money they had been saving for a clubhouse to meet an urgent need for emergency shelter for children. JCYM members purchased and prepared the home and Temporary Lodging for Children (now KidsTLC) was  born.

Current members provide support to area philanthropic organizations through financial donations, over 60 service projects annually and educational scholarships. Each year the women seek fund-raising opportunities to continue to support local philanthropies. In its 55+ year history, JCYM has donated over $3,000,000 in financial contributions and scholarships and volunteered 600,000  hours.

JCYM is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization. There is no paid staff or office space which allows the club to donate 100% of the proceeds from its fund-raising projects to other organizations.

Blooming Décor & Upholstery elevates the Christmas Season with designs of classic red, green, gold, and silver…along with a few surprises. From the moment you step into the home, you will feel all the joy and warmth of the season with a greenery-wrapped staircase, soft details of ribbon, and florals.

Williams Sonoma adds to the ambiance, creating unique tablescapes throughout the house.

With multiple Christmas trees of classic design with a twist that flows to a Winter Wonderland, it’s all about family spending time and making memories in the basement with the inspiration of Christmas vignettes.

Not to miss is the beautiful Nativity set, hand carved in Oberammergau, Germany. It is a keepsake of the owner and is showcased in the dining   room. Throughout the home, you will be immersed in African décor from Malawi, where the homeowner volunteers as a physician. One son was adopted from Malawi so there is a strong family connection.

Designed with a comfortable family environment in mind, this home was built by Dave Estes of Estes Custom Homes.

Gracing this second home, the team of Spruce Design Home filled the home with the holiday spirit. “In our design concept, we aimed to transform this stunning, modern home into a haven of style and festive cheer by seamlessly blending modern design elements with elevated holiday décor. Throughout the home, we carefully curated vignettes of the holiday spirit with elevated seasonal embellishments that add that touch of luxury to each styled space. We included elegant tabletop arrangements, chic mantel décor, and tactile decorations that are available to be purchased in our local shop location. Our goal was to create an experience for the homeowner and guests that exudes sophistication while radiating the warmth and joy of the holiday season.”

The porch creates a festive welcome to guests thanks to the design from MuddyBoot.

Designed by architect Scott Bickford of Bickford + Co, and built by Homoly Construction, the homeowners call this their dream home. The 5 fixtures hanging from the ceiling in the foyer were based on a design the homeowners saw and loved at a Pittsburgh hotel. A fun item to note is the two statues at the end of the hallway nicknamed “Ward and June Cleaver” who are festively decorated for each holiday.

Holiday Designer: Spruce Design Home is a full-service design studio and storefront, showcasing hand-selected home décor and lighting. They offer interior design services from one small space up to large renovations and custom build projects. They have a variety of package options as well as a la carte design services.

Craig Sole Designs Fine Floral Art has fused a layer of Holiday Spirit that embraces the style of this Tuscany home.

Featured are deep rich colors, luxurious fabrics and earthy organic materials, which complement the homeowners’ antique collection of heirlooms throughout the home. Layering and mingling the charming details of the holiday decor with the Old World style presents an enticing blend of casualness and elegance, true to the nostalgic ambiance of Christmas’ past.

A special part of the home is that many of the pictures and prints are from the homeowners’ parents (some painted by the grandmother) and include one picture painted by the grandparent’s piano teacher, who was a holocaust survivor (in the basement, last name Baer).

Holiday Designer: Craig Soles Designs – For over 40 years their attention to detail has flourished in their floral designs for weddings, special occasions, sympathy arrangements, and daily events. They have consistently been the florist for many civic galas and fundraisers including Childrens Mercy Red Hot Night, The Ballet Ball, Boys and Girls Club Kids Night Out, and large company parties. They would love to meet with you in their downtown Overland Park cottage. Give them a call to schedule a time to meet and discuss any of your floral needs or to tour their “secret garden”!

The open living space is transformed into a cozy holiday oasis for the family to enjoy throughout the holiday season.
