Premier community offers spacious estate home sites, amenities and vibrant, modern living.

Story by Kimberly Stern

Tom and Lori Dusterhoft are the inaugural homeowners in The Enclave at Terrybrook Farms — and that’s just the way the energetic couple likes it.

“Lori and I love that we’re not the last ones moving in and can watch Terrybrook Farms evolve,” Tom Dusterhoft says. “We look forward to becoming acquainted with existing and new neighbors.”

The Dusterhoft’s recently moved into their stunning estate home built by Jim Larson Homes — a modern residence that sits on an expansive 120-foot lot, a luxury of size for estate-style homes in the area. Drawn to the up-and-coming Johnson County community for many reasons, including proximity to two of their businesses at 135th and Metcalf and The Enclave’s retreat-like intimacy, the Dusterhoft’s discovered the home in its middle stages of completion, allowing them to make final selections that ultimately reflect their lifestyle, including entertaining and plenty of family gatherings.

“Lori and I have worked with other builders and, frankly, didn’t want to build from the ground up this time,” says Dusterhoft. “This gorgeous home site, the home that was in progress and the entire team bringing Terrybrook Farms to life are incredible. Everyone’s reputation is stellar, from Don Julian and Brian Rodrock to Jim Larson and Brenda Maier-Haverty, the community manager.”

The couple hired Kristen Ridler, one of Rodrock’s interior designers who also decorated several of Terrybrook Farms’ models, to achieve their vision.

“After touring models in Terrybrook Farms, we were impressed by the finishes, décor and overall quality of each home — the community has good bones and will stand the test of time,” says Tom Dusterhoft. “The wide variety of price ranges gives this master plan community a variety of homes.”

Situated at 171 St. and Switzer in the acclaimed Blue Valley School District, Terrybrook Farms is the much-anticipated Julian-Rodrock Homes collaboration. Thoughtfully designed by Don Julian and Brian Rodrock and leveraging the experience and financial strength of two of Kansas City’s top builders and developers, the upscale, award-winning community offers new homes ranging from $500,000 to more than $2 million—all providing discerning buyers the chance to purchase or build extraordinary homes. Since Terrybrook Farms broke ground two years ago, its explosive growth has resulted in more than 125 homes either completed or currently under construction.

Boasting picturesque topography, privacy and contemporary amenities — and an ideal location convenient to major thoroughfares and nearby top-notch schools — Terrybrook Farms features four distinctive neighborhoods with homes crafted for diverse lifestyles and tastes: Maple Ridge, Stone Creek, The Estates and The Enclave.

Larson, who has built homes in the Kansas City area since 1984, regards Terrybrook Farms as a community synonymous with innovation, signature homes with integrity and concierge customer service.

“Don and Brian are creating a remarkable community at Terrybrook Farms — it’s not just a flat piece of land, but has interesting elevation and pitch adding to its appeal,” Larson says. “They’ve paid great attention to detail and have already installed many of the amenities first, instead of waiting until the end. Attractive monuments, The Enclave that already has impeccable landscaping in common areas and water features throughout Terrybrook Farms are things homeowners can enjoy now.”

The seasoned builder also appreciates the unusually generous estate sites, a benefit important to buyers like the Dusterhofts.

“It’s difficult to find a 120-foot site in the city,” Larson says, adding, “You usually have to go out into the country to find something this spacious. The Estates and The Enclave are the answer for many buyers seeking authentic estate home sites.”

The Estate and Enclave neighborhoods are open to custom home builders, subject to developer approval, and eight prestigious companies, including Jim Larson Homes, have already been accepted. Once completed, The Estates will have 56 estate homes and The Enclave will have 19. Currently, Terrybrook Farms has approximately 22 estate home sites and 17 Enclave sites available.

Julian and Rodrock, who are building Stone Creek’s homes, handpicked three respected Kansas City builders to join them in Maple Ridge at Terrybrook Farms: James Engle Custom Homes, Roeser Homes and New Mark Homes.

“I’ve been selling homes for 29 years,” says Maier-Haverty, Weichert, Realtors Graham-Welch real estate agent, “and this is the most exciting residential project I’ve been involved with — four neighborhoods, a collection of outstanding builders, amenities including a clubhouse with cardio room, zero-entry resort-style pool and basketball sport court and an intra-community trail system adjacent to the beautiful Indian Creek Hike and Bike Trail. Nothing has been overlooked at Terrybrook Farms.”

Maier-Haverty notes that Terrybrook Farms truly has something for everyone.

“The generous home sites will accommodate pools and gracious family living,” she says. “With multiple price points, the appeal is endless.”

The striking vistas, welcoming ambience and experiential lifestyle of Terrybrook Farms comfortably embrace its exemplary neighborhoods, five-star amenities and estate homes — the best that life has to offer.
